The sky is Falling

The sky is Falling!
I just bought toilet paper on Amazon. I didn’t buy a roll! I bought 12! Are we so far gone, that I have to Prime toilet paper? Toilet paper doesn’t prevent the Coronavirus, soap and hand sanitizer does.
So who started this shitstorm? Did some on Wall street decide this is how they would make their fortune? This is not a dysentery pandemic, so why the shortage of paper?
I went to three Supermarkets today, and I saw 6 rolls of paper towels, one pack, six rolls! That is when I decided that I might as well try Amazon. I am a Prime Customer, let it roll.
Naturally, I am not the only deer in the forest, on Amazon, several name brand items were already sold out, only the generic products had stocks on hand.
I saw a Youtube video of two women fighting over toilet paper a couple of days ago and thought that these ladies have lost their minds…I don’t know? I could take on the winner if you get to keep the rolls.

They say beggars can’t be choosers. I had no idea that it would apply to toilet paper or I would be doing a blog on toilet paper…the END must be near.Berlinmc5

Don’t travel without the Internet.

If you are travelling to a foreign country and you can’t speak and read the language, a cell phone could be your best guide.
In Tokyo, we used our IPhone to decide which train or subway to take.

With five train companies competing for customers, you had multiple trains going to one location, most destination was in Japanese, you had people queing to use the ticket machines, so you felt pressured in deciding on a destination.
With Google Map, it was easy: I am here, and I want to go there. Thanks Google. With the Internet you always have a Translator, a Map, a Guide, and most of all a Friend.
The Internet is your best friend, We have the technology, use it. we strongly recommend renting a Mobile Wi-Fi devices. In Japan, there are some WiFi spots in cafe and restaurants, but they are usually not free!
If your mobile carrier provides international data roaming service, you can use your iPhone or Android phone. But their roaming fees are extremely expensive.
With Mobile Wi-Fi devices you don’t need complicated settings, only switch on power and enter password. Then you can enjoy Internet with Unlimited data usage, High Speed and Wide coverage area(100% in Japan).
If You are in a group, you can also share Wifi signals with up to 10 friends! If you split the cost, it’s a really reasonable choice.
Renting a mobile wifi for Japan is easy. Before your visit, just order from one of the several site online. You can choose where to pickup the device. The will send it to your hotel, to a private address, or you can pick it up in the airport.
The advantages of renting a Mobile Wi-Fi device are, the Rate are very cheap, Free extra battery,No hiddeen charge, and Full English Support .With the extra battery, we were online 24/7. I even used it to charge my camera and phone.
At the end of your stay, Put everything in the provided envelope and just drop it in the mail box.Berlinmc5

We were waiting for a fellow traveler at the Tampa International Airport, and our children said they needed to see the perspective from the ninth floor.  They strayed and we proceeded on to the landing area to greet our companion.

When it was time to go, we needed to go to the ninth floor to get the children. That was the point at which we uncovered what took them so long, The ninth floor.

The Ninth floor is a perspective of the Airport terminals (Airside A, C, E, and F), a miracle of its own, the Long term parking lot, the remote baggage sort, the Economy garage, and the cell phone waiting lot. You will also be able to see Tampa Stadium, Hillsborough Community College, Tampa, Clearwater and St. Petersburg.

The ninth floor infers what Shakespeare once said “All the world’s a stage”.

What a stage! Everything is there, light, sounds, and bounty of activity. What a creation! You will have plenty to see, in the event that you are fortunate to bring along a camera as I did. You will have the best photographer shoot ever.

The 110-220 Volts Adapter War.

Like most Famiies, when we travel, we always stress, carry only what’s necessary.  The bear necessities only!  Pack  lite!

If We are traveling to Florida, for example, bring  a  pair of shorts,  underwears, sunglasses,  a camera, and plenty money.  If You need anything  when you get there, buy it.  Pack lite. But You know this is bull! Saying it is not doing it. Pack lite.

We live in Berlin, and we have 220 volts in Germany. Naturally, we have 220 volt cameras, computers, mobile phone, and other travel necessities that we stuff in our suitcases, trying to avoid the 23 kilo grams weight allowance.  But all the world doesn’t run on 220 volts, in the U.S. its 110, and the plugs  that you use in Germany won’t  fit in the U.S. sockets, or the British. Naturally You can get a travel adapter that will take care of this. Be careful “ make sure your equipment is dual voltage”,  it should have a say for example ” 100-240V 50-60 Hz”.

This will work great for one piece of equipment, but what about the other 5 pieces? Yes, You will have to wait until they are charged, or you buy  several adapters. Great, but Pack Lite.

After many years of carrying several adapters, and fighting the Adapter Wars. Loosing the War, because Kids, are trained Agents, if caught, and questioned they reveal nothing. They know nothing. They will say nothing. And You get nothing out of them. The Adapter is gone! Live with it.

One day after searching the house for adapters to take on vacation to Florida, I thought, hey, why not take an extension  cord, and plug  it into the adapter and create a power station? Then, you wont need so many adapters. Bingo! My Adapter Wars was over.

It’s  not splitting the atom, I will admit, but it’s effective! Pack Lite!

5 people at TIBIDABO…

142 Euros is not bad for 5 people at an Amusement Park for all the rides. Not Bad indeed!  That’s what we paid at Tibidabo, in Barcelona Spain. Tibidabo,   also called the Magic Mountain, is located on the highest spot in Barcelona: 512 meters. Therefore, it allows you a wonderful view of heaven.

We drove   there, parked down the hill in the village and walked up the hill to Tibidabo. There are parking outside the gate, if you have a car. We didn’t have to wait! We just walked up and bought our tickets. Showed our tickets and were in.

Get this! They had LOCKERS to put   your stuff in!.  You can take your own lunch, place it in the locker, get it when you need it, find a bench and chow down!  We kept going back and forth to put all the things we collected during our visit; Photos, free rain jackets, and souvenirs.

Tibidabo  is  an Amusement Park built in 1889. It’s antique!  Don’t expect Bush Gardens. It is a family park circa 1800.The attraction is the view for me. The rides    were extra. The Park is built on several levels going up the hill toward the Temple de Sagrat Cor. The view kept on getting better has I went higher. Naturally, I took the same photos over and over because they kept looking better the higher I went.

The views from the church are breath taking and you can climb all the way to the top of the church. They have a statue of Jesus on top of the church; It can be seen for miles and miles!.

Torre de Collserolla
This is the telecommunications tower that was constructed during the 1992 Olympic, it  has an observation deck and a restaurant.

Temple de Sagrat Cor

Sagrat Cor or the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was built in 1806, it can be seen from just any location in  Barcelona.
It is a neo-Gothic structure with a bronze statue of the Sacred Heart at the top. Admission to the Church is free. You can take an elevator for 2 euros  to the top of the church and check out the city at 575 meters above sea level!

Take along a good Camera and charged battery. I did, but I ran out after taking over 400 pictures. It was fate that it showered,  we had a rainbow over the city. A view of heaven topped off with a rainbow.

The East Side Gallery Berlin

Next time you’re in Berlin, make sure the East Side Gallery is on your list of places to see. The East Side Gallery in Berlin is the longest section of the Berlin Wall still standing, covered with paintings and murals. The Berlin Wall East Side Gallery is a 1.3km-long section of the wall near the center of Berlin (Address: Mühlenstraße, 10243 Berlin). Approximately 106 art by artists from all over the world cover this commemorative for freedom and allow it to become the largest open air gallery in the world.

In 1989, hundreds of artists from all over the world, among them Keith Haring, came to Berlin to help transform the grubby and gray walls into a piece of art.

Seeing the remains of the Berlin Wall contained in the East Side Gallery is a must-do for any visitors to this awesome city!  It’s part of all the sightseeing bus tours, in case you’re not brave enough to find it yourself.

This blocks-long section of the Wall is broken up into hundreds of different murals and painting done by artists from around the world.  They’re all in great condition, and the area is cordoned off, along with some “official” explanations, so you can get all the pictures and info you want.

The Gallery is definitely a unique experience, and really gives you an idea of the immense scale of the Wall.  You don’t want to miss it. I am a lover of street art and this is just about as good as it gets.

Why would someone come to Berlin and not see the wall? I mean, it’s THE wall. Sure, there are remnants of the old Mauer scattered throughout Berlin, but this is the absolute best section. Covered in some of the world’s most amazing street murals, it’s history and art all rolled up into one, long, reach-out-and-touch-it package.

Flanked on both ends by U-Bahn stations, the East Side Gallery is easily accessible, so there are no excuses not to visit. So come down, enjoy a leisurely stroll, and enjoy some great, political art.

Pellworm Germany is my vacation island for peace and quiet

My family and I discovered that we want peace and quiet whenever we are on vacation. We are living in Berlin in a green area (Lakes and Forests), we have peace although the city have millions. Sometimes it’s too quiet, even for me. I have three teenagers and they love the peace and the space.. But there are times that our area doesn’t have enough action.

That’s why I am surprised that whenever we are looking for a vacation, peace and quiet are two of the options that this place “got to” have.

For the past 3 years, on Easter we found this Island called Pellworm, the haven for this ” got to have peace and quite”.

Pellworm is a small island north of Germany. To get there you need to take the ferry from Nordstrand  Germany.
